Companions in Discerning Leadership

La Storta is dedicated to providing accompaniment and tools to enhance the faith journey and leadership of lay and ordained members of the Catholic Church.

LA STORTA /’STƆRTA/ (LA’STORT’A)

[ITALIAN: NOUN]:

BEND, CURVE OR TWIST - AS IN A BENT, CURVED OR TWISTED ROAD, MUCH LIKE THE PRACTICE OF LEADERSHIP.

16 years after his initial conversion, St. Ignatius of Loyola stopped in a small chapel in the Italian town of La Storta. There he prayed to be placed with God’s Son, willing to accept any trial resulting from his request of the Pope to start a new religious order to be known as the Jesuits. In his autobiography, Ignatius clearly notes hearing the words of God, “I will be favorable to you in Rome” while praying at the chapel in La Storta.

Today, La Storta offers a similar place of pause to recognize the many bends in our own faith journey as Catholics. Through individual accompaniment of lay and ordained leaders, spiritual direction, retreats, and facilitation of communal discernment, La Storta seeks to advance the practice of Ignatian spirituality. We serve all those desiring to be placed with Christ to collaborate with the Spirit in their daily lives.
